What Is SKINVIVE?

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that occurs naturally in the skin and plays a central role in retaining moisture and maintaining elasticity. As we age, natural HA levels decline, contributing to dullness, rough texture, and dehydrated-looking skin. SKINVIVE replenishes hyaluronic acid directly within the dermis, improving the skin’s ability to retain moisture and supporting a smoother, more luminous complexion from the inside out.

SKINVIVE is FDA-approved for adults over 21 and is appropriate for all Fitzpatrick skin types.

How It Works

SKINVIVE is administered as a series of precise microdroplet injections delivered just beneath the skin surface into the dermis of the cheeks. This superficial placement is what distinguishes it from volumizing fillers, which are placed in deeper tissue. By hydrating from within at the dermal level, SKINVIVE improves the skin environment itself rather than changing the shape or contour of the face.

The treatment contains lidocaine for comfort and is well tolerated by most patients. Some early improvement in smoothness may be noticeable shortly after treatment, with optimal results developing over the following weeks as the skin responds to improved hydration.

What to Expect

Consultation

Your provider will evaluate your skin and confirm that SKINVIVE is appropriate for your concerns and goals. Because SKINVIVE improves skin quality rather than facial structure, it is a strong complement to many other treatments and can be incorporated into a broader aesthetic plan.

The Procedure

The treatment area is cleansed and topical numbing is applied. SKINVIVE is then administered as microdroplet injections across the cheeks using a fine needle. The procedure is straightforward and typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. Most patients find it very comfortable given the lidocaine in the formulation.

Results

Some improvement in skin smoothness may be visible shortly after treatment, with full results developing over the following weeks. In clinical studies, 83% of patients reported satisfaction with healthy-looking skin and 72% reported satisfaction with hydration at 6 months. At Arvé Aesthetics, one treatment consisting of two syringes is recommended every 6 months to maintain results.

How SKINVIVE Differs from Traditional Fillers

SKINVIVE and traditional hyaluronic acid fillers both use HA as their active ingredient, but they work in fundamentally different ways and address different concerns:

  • Traditional Fillers: placed in deeper tissue to restore volume, lift, or reshape facial features. Results are immediate and structural.
  • SKINVIVE: placed superficially in the dermis to improve skin smoothness, hydration, and radiance. Does not add volume or alter facial contour.

This distinction makes SKINVIVE an excellent complement to structural treatments rather than a replacement for them. Patients receiving dermal fillers, neuromodulators, microneedling, or laser treatments can benefit from SKINVIVE as a skin quality enhancement that elevates the overall result.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

SKINVIVE is well suited for patients who:

Aftercare

SKINVIVE requires little to no downtime. To support your results following treatment:

  • Avoid Touching the Area: refrain from touching or massaging the cheeks for at least 24 hours following treatment
  • Avoid Heat and Strenuous Activity: avoid saunas, hot tubs, and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours
  • Sun Protection: apply SPF daily to protect and maintain your results
  • Stay Hydrated: drinking plenty of water supports the skin’s ability to retain moisture following treatment
  • Monitor the Area: mild redness, swelling, or bruising at injection sites is normal and typically resolves within a few days. Contact our team if you have any concerns.
