What Is Brow Permanent Makeup?
Brow permanent makeup encompasses a range of advanced techniques that use precise pigment placement to enhance the shape, fullness, and definition of your eyebrows. These treatments are fully customized to your facial structure, skin type, and desired outcome, creating results that range from ultra-natural hair stroke detail to softly defined structure. The goal is to complement your features while maintaining a balanced, realistic appearance that looks like your best brows, not a drawn-on effect. At Arvé Aesthetics, brow permanent makeup is performed by our experienced permanent makeup artists, whose approach combines technical precision with an eye for proportion and facial harmony.
What Brow Treatments Are Available?
We offer three brow techniques to match your aesthetic preferences and skin type:Nano Hairstroke Brows
A highly precise single-needle technique that deposits pigment in fine strokes that mimic the appearance of individual brow hairs. This approach produces the most realistic, hair-like result and is ideal for enhancing sparse brows or reshaping with minimal density and maximum detail.Ombré or Powder Brows
A softly shaded technique that creates a filled-in, makeup-like effect. The pigment is applied lighter at the front of the brow and gradually deepens through the tail for a dimensional, polished result. Ombré powder brows are particularly well suited for patients who prefer a more defined brow or have oilier skin types where hair strokes may not retain as consistently.Combination Brows
A blend of nano hair strokes and soft powder shading that creates both texture and definition in a single treatment. Combination brows are ideal for patients who want a natural look with added structure, fullness, and depth. What to Expect
Consultation
Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation and brow mapping session. Your provider will design a brow shape tailored specifically to your facial features, bone structure, and natural brow pattern, and will work with you on pigment selection to ensure a flattering, natural result. This step is unhurried and collaborative. The Procedure
A topical numbing agent is applied prior to the tattooing process to ensure comfort throughout the session. Once the area is adequately numbed, pigment is placed into the skin using the selected technique with precision and control. All approaches prioritize symmetry, balance, and a result that enhances rather than overpowers.Duration
Most brow appointments take approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on the technique selected and the level of customization required. How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Every brow permanent makeup treatment includes an initial session followed by a touch-up appointment within 4 weeks. This refinement visit allows for adjustments to color, shape, and density as the pigment settles and heals, ensuring the best possible long-term result. Over time, pigment will naturally soften, and yearly maintenance appointments are recommended.Healing Timeline
Healing occurs in two phases. During the first 7 to 14 days, the treated area will go through an initial healing process during which the brows may appear darker, slightly textured, or flaky as the skin regenerates. It is important not to pick or scratch during this phase. Full color settling and true final results are typically visible at 4 to 6 weeks, once the skin has fully healed and the pigment has stabilized.Who Is Not a Good Candidate?
Brow permanent makeup is not appropriate for everyone. Treatment is not recommended for patients who:- Have a history of keloid scarring or hypertrophic scarring
- Are currently using topical retinoids or tretinoin in or near the treatment area
- Have active psoriasis or eczema in the treatment area
- Have a medical condition that impairs wound healing, unless medical clearance has been obtained prior to treatment
Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing and long-term pigment retention. To protect your results:- Keep the Area Clean: follow all aftercare instructions provided at your appointment carefully and consistently
- Avoid Moisture and Sweat: keep the brows dry and avoid excessive sweating, swimming, and steam during the initial healing phasecarefully and consistently
- Sun Protection: avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area during healing and apply SPF once fully healed to slow pigment fading over time
- Do Not Pick or Scratch: allow the skin to flake and shed naturally. Picking or scratching can pull pigment and cause uneven results or scarring.
- Avoid Skincare Products on the Area: keep makeup, cleansers, and active skincare ingredients away from the brows until fully healed
