What Is Erectile Dysfunction Treatment?

Sildenafil and tadalafil belong to a class of medications called PDE5 inhibitors, which work by preventing the breakdown of a compound involved in smooth muscle relaxation, allowing increased blood flow to the penis in response to sexual stimulation. TriMix is injected directly into the penis and combines three vasoactive agents that relax smooth muscle and dilate blood vessels through complementary mechanisms. Sexual stimulation is still required to produce an erection. TriMix is often effective for patients who have not responded well to oral medication alone.

Results
TriMix typically produces an erection within 5 to 20 minutes of injection. Oral medications vary in onset and duration depending on the formulation prescribed. A follow up appointment is scheduled at one month to assess response and adjust dosing if needed. Any dose adjustment is followed by another 4 week reassessment. Once dosing is stable, future visits are as needed and can be initiated by the patient.
Who Is Not a Good Candidate?
Candidacy is determined during the initial consultation through a detailed intake form and review of medical history. Certain cardiovascular conditions, use of nitrate medications, bleeding disorders, and history of priapism affect eligibility for specific treatment options and will be reviewed individually with each patient. Patients with sickle cell disease or other conditions that increase the risk of prolonged erection require additional evaluation before starting TriMix.
Aftercare
